Cupboards, wardrobes, under-stair storage and shelving
Paint finished wardrobes, cupboards, shelving, false chimneys and bookcases can all be designed to suit the customer. Some customers have furnished me with their own sketches for me to quote on or, I can sketch ideas during a conversation so that we (the customer and I) can both be sure we are talking of the same idea.
Two tone living room unit.
A previous customer asked me to quote for a living room unit which had two, three door cupboards with floating shelves above and an embellishment to the concrete fire surround. We used a selection of online images to pick features that the customer liked. Double fluting was machined into the pilastervertical fascias and 70mm holes were cut to pass cable and plugs through. As backs were not put in two of the cupboards a trim was added to clean up the interior.
Under stair Storage Layham, Suffolk.
A potential customer asked me to manufacture and install under stair storage split into three units. A tall door to a cupboard and two pull out units. The drawers were made from birch plywood and used soft close drawer runners taking upto 80kg of load. The tall door was hung on 6 No soft close Blum 110 degree cup hinges.
Five door wardrobe
A previous customer asked me to manufacture and install a paint finish fitted wardrobe. An intitial sketch was drawn and after a conversation this was the result. The customer was thrilled. The drawers were made from birch plywood and used soft close drawer runners taking upto 45kg of load. The tall doors were hung on 6 No soft close Blum 110 degree cup hinges. The customer wanted a primed and undercoated unit as he was to have the unit sprayed.
Alcove units and floating shelves.
A previous customer asked me to design, manufacture and install alcove units either side of a chimney breast and three floating shelves above. The customer told me the height of the units and the shelves. The project was a bit unusual as I had to build the left hand unit in peices to allow for heating pipes. A shelf on adjustable strips was also provided in each cupboard.
Under stairs storage
A customer asked me to rearrange space under their stairs. Their low existing door was to be heightened and a new, bespoke door manufactured, an open space to be used for a pet area and a small door made to give access to a small area that was left. The masonary wall was removed (disposed of responsibly at Foxhall recycling centre – I am a registered waste carrier) and replaced with studwork and sheets of painted mdf. Each of the three areas had a perimeter of architrave.
Made to measure tall (or short) wardrobe doors.
A bedroom had a natural recess that went from floor to ceiling. I was asked to make full height pair of doors with a simple panel design and provide a central division with a shelf either side and provide removable hanging rails. These doors were made with a simple, traditional shaker type panel but the face design could have a variety of styles and also take a moulding within the panel edge.
Reorganising existing cupboards.
I was asked if I could provide better storage within existing cupboards. An adjustable shoe rack was required under the stairs and the existing bedroom wardorbes were adjusted to take a side storage box made of birch plywood and finished in an oil with hanging rails added.
A blind was fitted while I was there.
Understair sliding storage
The customer asked if I could build a drawer like storage system under their stairs. A ‘rod’ was drawn to make calculations easier. Birch plywood was used for the boxing and 700mm, 90kg load, fully extending drawer runners used as the sliding mechanism. MR mdf fascias were applied after all units were levelled. A door was also made.
Bespoke sliding door cabinets.
The customer asked me if I could make two units with adjustable shelving, using four cabinet doors he already had. The units had to be a set width within a garage. The customers’ worktop offcuts were to be fixed on the top finishing at a specific height. He was impressed with the result.
